about
what i enjoy about this recording is how it kept growing from vocals/guitar on one mic into kind of a full sounding track. i'd finish one part and think..."oh, this'd be a cool part or texture"...the 'what if i did this' kept going and it kept working. from the beatboxing and slapping a checkbook against my desk for a snare, to using the 4 track as an "amp" for the noise guitar. oh, yeah, the song's not too bad either, i don't think.
lyrics
you and him, an old flame and a friend
it's still hard to get over you.
years on end, biding all the time that i'm allowed to
get over you.
i've side stepped and taken short cuts
taken all precaution to free you from my mind
but peace i cannot find.
you and him, and old flame and a friend
it's impossible to get over you.
it's impossible to eat
it's impossible to sleep
it's impossible to concentrate on anything.
you and i, until the day i die
will never know what could have been
he and i always got on fine
but recently, i'm thinking again.
i've side stepped and taken short cuts
taken all precaution to free you from my mind
but peace i cannot find.
it's a hard pill to choke down
and there's nothing left to drink around
to see you both is to see the ghost of me.
it's impossible to eat
it's impossible to sleep
it's impossible to concentrate on anything.
it's impossible to speak
it's impossible to keep,
it's impossible to see that it is nothing.
was nothing.
one word: atmosphere. after hearing these songs live and digging the feel of the "demo" versions it's nice to hear it all in a cohesive package. somewhere between the raveonettes and charletons UK. wctm gold!
chock full of fun rock rumpus' equal parts 13th floor elevators and ventures; weird, charming and just a bit obtuse. glad to hear the songs sound just as good recorded as they translate live. wctm gold!
The Cleveland band temper uncompromising metalcore breakdowns with infectious jangle-pop melodies and ample dark humor.
