about
there's a neat effect that builds towards the end and i'm not sure how it happened. i was using my crappy old digital reverb and it didn't seem to be working at first but after i finished the final piano take i noticed the harmonics building up at the end. it turned out pretty cool, i think.
lyrics
i take a seat at the keyboard
and i don't know what to do
that's 'cause it's been forever
since i last sat here with you
sure we've both moved on
but here i still feel a pang
everything sounds out of tune
and chords don't ring the same anymore
(chorus)
what else could it be?
i'm just rusty says the pragmatist inside
i know otherwise
and this piano song don't lie.
once i was all flash and speed
'til you taught me how to feel
but your lessons went deeper and deeper
into something we couldn't conceal anymore
(chorus)
now it just sits in the corner
disused and collecting dust
sometimes i'll play it's keys in passing
like scanning memories of us
but if i stay there too long
then i'm playing a song
and can't help but think of you.
how you led me astray
and then turned me away
oh, what could i do?

one word: atmosphere. after hearing these songs live and digging the feel of the "demo" versions it's nice to hear it all in a cohesive package. somewhere between the raveonettes and charletons UK. wctm gold!
chock full of fun rock rumpus' equal parts 13th floor elevators and ventures; weird, charming and just a bit obtuse. glad to hear the songs sound just as good recorded as they translate live. wctm gold!
Toronto rivals San Francisco as the North American capital of jangle pop as evidenced by this new record of sunny jams from the Motorists. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 16, 2024
The Cleveland band temper uncompromising metalcore breakdowns with infectious jangle-pop melodies and ample dark humor.
