about
this was recorded during my 'tight drums' phase. the lyrics refer to a composite of people i knew at the time in vulnerable situations. a lot of my songs from this time in particular deal with composite characters including myself. any situations/people/events mentioned in any of my songs are purely hypothetical and/or coincidental. unless blatantly referenced that is.
lyrics
it's not my fault that you're life sucks
tied so tightly to the ground.
trying hard to reach for help
but no one ever sticks around.
it's not my fault your hands can't keep a grip
on those rungs you've been clinging to
but when you slip you won't fall far
it's not my fault, that i won't let you.
but when we cling together tight
repeating everything's alright
it's hard for me to think it could be true.
though i should've been long gone
how do you leave someone
when everything that they have left is you?
it's not my fault that you're messed up
deluding yourself into an early grave.
and the help you never asked for never came.
it's not my fault that you can't be saved.

one word: atmosphere. after hearing these songs live and digging the feel of the "demo" versions it's nice to hear it all in a cohesive package. somewhere between the raveonettes and charletons UK. wctm gold!
chock full of fun rock rumpus' equal parts 13th floor elevators and ventures; weird, charming and just a bit obtuse. glad to hear the songs sound just as good recorded as they translate live. wctm gold!
Toronto rivals San Francisco as the North American capital of jangle pop as evidenced by this new record of sunny jams from the Motorists. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 16, 2024
The Cleveland band temper uncompromising metalcore breakdowns with infectious jangle-pop melodies and ample dark humor.
